HARD-TO-FIND SILENCERS: When a manufacturer no longer supports your car with exhaust parts Longlife can always take care of your needs because we make the silencers to order here in our Berkeley Centre. We bend the stainless steel tube to fit exactly to your car and make the brackets as well for a perfect fit.
We also fit exhausts for:

  • Lorries
  • Vans
  • Taxis
  • Motorcycles
  • Tractors
  • Other commercial vehicles

OVER-PRICED ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS’ SILENCERS. If you own a BMW Mini Cooper, a Mercedes, Saab, Audi, Lexus or any other newer car where exhausts can only be bought form the manufacturer you will find we can save you money over their mild steel exhausts which will rust out in 2-4 years.

car exhaust - custom built exhausts - performance exhaustsSTAINLESS STEEL. We use only 304 grade stainless steel for our silencers and tubes which is the best stainless steel one can buy. This allows us to confidently offer a lifetime guarantee. Our competitors often offer 406 grade stainless steel which will rust over time (though not the way mild steel rusts).

WELDED SILENCERS. We weld all of our silencers seams where many mail order stainless steel silencers are crimped or spun which can make for the seams coming apart over time. This is another reason we can confidently offer a lifetime guarantee.

SYSTEM (SOUND) NOTE. We are able to offer you four levels of sound because we make and fit all our exhaust systems on site. We offer the following system notes:

  • Standard: similar to your car’s existing sound
  • Mild Sport: a little throatier sound noted especially when you accelerate
  • Mid Sport: a full throaty sound that you can hear at idle and especially obvious during acceleration
  • Full Sport: noticeable at all times and possibly objectionable on long, motorway trips and to a finicky MOT inspector.

MULTIPLE LONGLIFE CENTRES. There are 10 other Longlife centres throughout the UK to service your needs should you move. Their hours of operation vary so check the corporate website (www.longlife.co.uk) for hours of operation.

 ECU Remapping/Engine Tuning

DO YOU WANT MORE POWER WITH IMPROVED ECONOMY?

We are not the type of company that tries to get the ultimate extra 1bhp at the expense of drivability. Our aim is to achieve the best combination of power, longevity, economy and as mentioned, drivability. Each engine map is custom to the car and the drivers requirements, tested on the road, where it counts.

What is engine mapping?
The combined data of the fuel mixture and ignition timingoff "open loop" digital systems are held on a chip within your Electronic Control Unit (ECU). This data is then used by the ECU programme to set ignition and fuel supply to the engine as required.  The data or "characteristics" of the information can be depicted, as a graph which when analysed and altered is known as engine mapping.

Is re-mapping better or simply different from chipping?
OBD Engine mapping is the modern version of chipping. When you "chip" a car you basically put in a chip that has a set of data already burnt onto it, into your ECU. When you OBD remap an ECU, you save off the data currently stored on the chip and overwrite it with the performance data. This then allows you to apply different maps where applicable and also restore the original data should you require it. The benefit obviously of this is that it means you have not changed any standard part of the car and therefore warranty is unaffected etc.

What you must remember is that this is not some gimmick promise item that fools the engine into thinking something else (oh how I wish those things would be banned under the sales description act!), it is the real version of engine tuning using a modern approach.

Why do I need ECU remapping?

When a manufacturer releases a car into the world market it has to be able to cope with many different demands in many different environments by many different users all "from the box". For example, the car has to cope with poor fuel quality, dusty environments, poor services and at the same time provide reliability and economy. This has meant that the manufacturers have in essence detuned the engines to cater for all this.

In Europe and America we generally do not have these issues to the extent that the engines have been detuned to - so, we have the scope to change them. This is what we at Angel Tuning are doing for customers aross the UK.
